EMDR- a client's experience
I saw Jodie for EMDR to process an extremely painful memory of a suicide attempt I had been carrying around with me for 16 years. I really was not mucking about and my experience of my parents finding out was incredibly traumatic.
I found EMDR bizarre and at times very uncomfortable. I struggled to settle into it to begin with but over the weeks I felt an uncharacteristic lightness. Its hard to describe the benefits I have experienced since completing EMDR. I feel untroubled by the traumatic memory. It no longer feels disturbing in any way and as a result my relationship with my parents has significantly improved. I feel more settled and confident.
